Our Top Hits From The Year 2010

Some of the most recognizable and biggest hits were from the previous decade, where pop & Hip Hop music seemed to be at its peak. This summer we're rediscovering and relishing in the nostalgic feel of music released in this unforgettable era. Some of the biggest hits of the year were released by Nelly, Shontelle, Maroon 5, Eminem, and more, with breakout artists just kicking off their career to music industry moguls. We're diving back into that year and counting down our top 10 hits from some of the most prominent figures in the music industry.

Katy Perry | Billboard

A collaboration we didn't know we needed between a pop icon and legendary rapper, Snoop Dogg for the hit single 'California Gurls'. Who knew these two personalities would make the song of the summer or perhaps the year where it sat on the Billboard top 100 charts for a consecutive 6 weeks. Between its fun lyrics and summer-fun feeling, it continues to be an iconic hit years later and a personal favorite of ours.

Jason Derulo's release 'In My Head' became a significant track last decade between its pure pop joy and kick off of his career where it hit platinum. This song not only secured the win of the Teen Choice Awards but was nominated for two MTV Video Music Awards and BMI Pop Music Awards. This classic track blends fun & fresh pop with R&B into the perfect hit single in 2010.

Rihanna | Eminem | Billboard

Another collaboration between two complimentary artists is within the single 'Love The Way You Lie' where Eminem and Rihanna joined forces to create the gut-wrenching, best-selling single. Between the vulnerable storyline, powerhouse vocalists, and rarity of such a production, the track continues to be a crowd favorite. With multiple accolades, including UK's best-selling single of the year and multiple Grammy nominations, it's beloved worldwide.

Lady Gaga delivered chart toppers throughout her career and 'Telephone' was definitely one of them. Not only did it feature talented vocalist Beyonce, but the unique dance-worthy quality made it stand out amongst other studio releases and chart-toppers. Despite its release date in late 2009, the following year found the most traction with positive reviews worldwide and immediate downloads. From the trashy yet glorious pop energy to the endearing storyline, the track was crowned as one of the top best selling singles of the year & for good reason.

The metaphorically beautiful craftsmanship of Owl City's 'Fireflies' continues to have a cult following to today's date. The refreshing track amongst other pop hits was almost needed as it played around with unique melodies and untouched territory in the then current state of music. Fans worldwide were quick to add it onto their playlists as it gained certified diamond status and were eager to have it on blast all year long.

Currently sitting as Miley's most streamed song is 'Party in the USA' from her 2009 album 'The Time Of Our Lives' this era reigned as the transformative year for her music career and long time fans were adoring this new side to her. This good-feeling tune was and continues to be adored by listeners across the globe and was crowned with multiple certified platinum awards. The pop track signified the epitome for Miley as an artist and music lovers far & wide can't help but move to the addicting beat.

Ke$ha | NPR

Kesha's 2010 album 'Animal' kicked off the year with a bang, more specifically from the hit 'Tik Tok'. The catchy pop tune reached the top of the charts shortly after its release and was titled as the best-selling track of the year. It's multiple accolades and worldwide adoration for its funky and party-like energy made it a global sensation throughout the entire year. We and millions of others can't help but play this tune at full blast with the windows down.

Bruno Mars's sentimental track 'Just The Way You Are' gave us a different side to music in 2010 as he strayed away from the repetitive party, pop music scene and instead delivered a soft rock, personable, and beautifully executed single. The deeply poetic piece of art gained a worldwide nod of approval with its classically cheesy yet adorable songwriting. As it reached number one in multiple countries, peaked on the charts for a whopping 32 weeks, it was definitely a favorite for all of us this year.

Usher | Youtube

'OMG' by Usher featuring Will I Am was another successful track by the R&B singer. He continued his streak of chart-toppers with this party mix that kept the mood high and energy even higher. Their use of techno and dancepop gave us another club banger for the year and solidified him even further as an iconic artist of the decade.

Another Hip House beat that we can't stop thinking about is Flo Rida's 'Club Can't Handle Me' featuring David Guetta. Between the unstoppable and confident feelings to consistent nostalgia, we're still queuing this track all year long. The infectious beat coupled with background vocals bring us nothing but a smile on not only our faces but the millions of listeners who pushed the track up the charts.

With each passing decade, music seems to shift from what once was, however, many current artists ode their artistry and released work to those who came before. 2010 housed some of the most influential music ranging from personable & heartfelt to plain old fun tracks and we still can't shake them off of our playlists.

Let us know what nostalgic music you still have stuck in your head.
