Despite the many subgroups of Trance from uplifting, dream, tech, psychedelic, and more, the entire genre has been gaining popularity amongst the younger generations. It's origin is branched from EDM from the 90s to the early 2000s, specifically within Europe. From its hypnotic and softer elements, this smoother sound is gaining favoritism as compared to more harsh and intense sounds from its counterparts. The genre is comprised of slower progressions and a fixation on the sound rather than the lyrics, which makes for a hypnotic beat that we just can't get enough of.

This atypical clubby beat has been a hit on multiple platforms through its highlighted beat, more melodic tone, and relaxing nature. As opposed to other EDM genres, such as house, electro, and techno, trance music isn't as intense and focuses more on the drawn out nature rather than the intense, underground nature of the other subgroups.

Multiple DJs have curated their own versions from pre-released songs and labeled them as "Trace Remixes". TikTok and other social media platforms has allowed these creators to explore their talents and post it on social media, which has amassed millions of fans across the globe. Thousands of tracks centered around this remixed version have perhaps gained far more popularity than its original. Some of the most well-known hits that have gained a mass following within its trance remix include "Trance x I Know", both by Metro Boomin where two hits were combined into one with a twist, "Prada" by cassö, and "Faded" by SKAZI.

So what does this mean for music?

As more remixes and original trance tracks are released, fans are growing to adore this newfound appreciation for the different sound and are pushing for other hits tracks to be given the same remix. Whether it's through popular DJs or social media talent, artists are turning their heads towards this new sound and experimenting with something new & fresh.
